5 movie quotes that will motivate your entrepreneurial pursuits

Every once in a while, we need some direct motivation from the things we love. What better to think of than quotes that define iconic moments in your favourite movies, which you could probably relate to your life. Here's a few:

#1. Rocky (1976)

Nobody is going to hit as hard as life, but it ain’t how hard you can hit. It’s how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. It’s how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.

Nobody says it better than Rocky. Even better if you read it in Sylvester Stallone’s voice. Rocky was all about never giving up. Even when everything in life is against you, you fight back, always. There may be times when you would just feel like giving up and thinking “Screw this, I’m done”. That's exactly when you actually stand up and face the music. A winner never stops, ever.

#2. The Godfather (1972)

Great men are not born great, they grow great.

An Italian mafia lord is not the best guy to take advices from. But Vito Corleone has a point here. In this iconic movie, this line is surely one of the best quotes for entrepreneurs everywhere.

It doesn’t take a genius to know that everybody is born the same. Your financial conditions may be different but your thoughts should never be low. If you think big, half the battle is won. The other half is just working hard and moving forward, growing.

#3. Million Dollar Baby (2004)

It’s the magic of risking everything for a dream that nobody sees but you.

This line might be the best of the lot partly because of the magical narration of Morgan Freeman.

One of the many things great entrepreneurs do is prove people wrong. There are haters, doubters and people who just think you are crazy risking everything to follow your dreams. They are the ones who can't see how the risk is worth it. How the sweet taste of achieving your dreams negates all the blood and sweat that led you there.

Punch your way out of their negative energy and keep moving forward.

#4. Batman Begins (2005)

"Bruce, why do we fall?” “So we can pick ourselves up again."

If it helped Batman become a hero, it sure as hell will help you in your entrepreneurial journey. This is the part of the movie where Bruce is taught one of the key elements of life: its okay to fail, to fall. It's not okay to be there though, rise!

Picture that in your life now. You must have failed countless times. There might have been ideas that you felt were the next big thing, but they failed. But that didn’t stop you from going on, or did it?

Every failure brings experience. Use that to your advantage. Even Batman would want you to do the same.

#5. Jerry Maguire (1996)

The key to this business is personal relationships.

One of the most iconic lines for any business out there is this one. Your business means nothing if you are not focusing on the people involved in it.

From customers to partners to employees, many times success comes down to one thing: the people.

Great companies are built by great people. Greatness is achieved when you surround yourself with likeminded people who are focused on succeeding and winning. So, go out there and start building your dream team and everything good will just follow.
